Programming was totally bizarre, including a loser attempt at a singles mixer! My favorite moment in a program item was John Shirley telling Bob Silverberg at a panel called "Cyberpunk: Another New Wave?" that he was jealous of the cyberpunk writers! A close runner-up was a panel Melinda did on future legal systems at which a very strange guy with a shopping back full of manuscript rambled on about what the future would really be like, as anyone could find out by reading his (probably justifiably unpublished) book.
Personally, the con is memorable for me because by this time I'd joined SFPA and got to meet a lot of people I'd known only through their zines. This was also the first worldcon of many at which I'd lament that I didn't have the time to see all the people I wanted to see. A program item I still remember vividly is a midnight panel on sexual devices at which the star was Gardner Dozois, who had brought along props as varied as a walking penis that he'd gotten from various catalogues.
